On this page
An OLED TV is worth it for a buyer who watches films or plays games in a dim or mixed-light room, because the gap to Mini-LED is now £269 at 55 inches and £300 at 65 inches on Amazon UK at the time of writing (October 2026). It is not worth it for a bright room, a set left on news channels all day, or a 55-inch budget under £600, where Mini-LED and QLED give more for the money.
Over a 7-year life, the £269 gap costs £38.43 a year. The panel trade-offs are explained in OLED vs QLED, and the 65-inch picks match Best 65 inch TV UK 2026 and LG C6 vs Samsung S90H.

How much more does an OLED TV cost than Mini-LED or QLED?
£269 at 55 inches and £300 at 65 inches, setting the cheapest tracked OLED against the Mini-LED pick at the same size on Amazon UK at the time of writing (October 2026). Against the 144 Hz Hisense 55E78QTUK PRO QLED, the 55-inch gap is £394. Compare Electronic's price-gap table spreads each gap over a 7-year life.
| Size and tier | QLED | Mini-LED | OLED | OLED over Mini-LED | Per year, 7 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 55-inch, entry | Hisense 55E78QTUK PRO, £405 | TCL 55C6K, £530 | Philips 55OLED760, £799 | £269.00 | £38.43 |

The entry gap is the one most buyers face, and it is narrow. Philips calls the 55OLED760 its most affordable OLED Ambilight TV, and the Hisense 65A85NTUK costs £300 more than Hisense's own 65U7QTUK Mini-LED. The upper gap is wider because the TCL 65C7L, rated by TCL at 3,000 nits with 1,152 dimming zones, costs £700.99 less than the LG OLED evo C6 65. Does OLED burn-in still matter?
Burn-in is real but slow, and static images drive it. RTINGS runs 100-plus TVs and monitors on a live CNN feed in an accelerated longevity test; at its 10-month update most TVs had run for about 6,000 hours, and RTINGS reported that almost all of its OLEDs showed image retention, much of it permanent burn-in, especially on older panels such as the LG CX and Sony A8H.
- LCD TVs age too: RTINGS found worsening uniformity on several LCD sets and named the Samsung TU8000 and LG NANO90 2021 as rapidly degrading.
- Compensation cycles matter: RTINGS reports that Samsung, as a direct result of its findings, released a firmware update in April 2023 that prompts S95B owners to run the cycle after 2,000 hours.
- RTINGS reported that recent Sony OLEDs were not as badly affected as it first thought.
6,000 hours equals 4.1 years at 4 hours a day, all of it one news channel with fixed logos. A household that rotates films, drama, sport and games carries far less risk than that test; one that leaves rolling news on all day carries more. What warranty covers an OLED TV in the UK?
Twelve months to two years from the maker on these models, and up to six years under UK law. None of the LG, Samsung or Philips UK warranty pages Compare Electronic checked mentions burn-in, and LG's 5-year panel warranty does not cover the B6 or C6.
| Maker | Standard UK warranty | OLED panel extras | Models in this guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| LG | 12 months parts and labour | 5-year panel-only warranty on G, M, W and Z OLED TVs; labour charged after year 1; no registration | LG OLED B6 55 and LG OLED evo C6 65: 12 months |
| Samsung | 12 months on TVs | Five-year promotion for 1 October to 1 December 2026 lists appliances only, no TVs | Samsung S90H 65: 12 months |
| Philips | 2 years on the 55OLED760 | None found on the product page | Philips 55OLED760: 2 years |
| Any UK retailer | Consumer Rights Act 2015: claims for up to 6 years (5 in Scotland), per Which? | Fault presumed present at delivery for the first 6 months | Every TV here |
The Philips 55OLED760's 2 years doubles the 12 months LG and Samsung give on the B6, C6 and S90H. LG's panel cover applies only to its G, M, W and Z ranges, whose 2026 models are G6 and W6 sizes, so five years of LG panel cover means paying for a G6.
