Is the Core i7-11700KF right for you?
If you have a Z590 board, always run a discrete GPU, and the 11700KF is noticeably cheaper than the 11700K on the used market, it's the sensible pick for the same performance.
If the i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X are available at similar prices, buy those. Both are meaningfully better for gaming and productivity.
Before you buy
The 11700K has integrated Intel UHD Graphics 750. The 11700KF has no iGPU, making it slightly cheaper. Everything else, including the thermal profile and performance, is virtually identical.
Marginally. The 11700KF has PCIe 4.0 which the 10700K lacks. Performance is similar or the 11700KF is slightly ahead in some workloads. At similar prices, either is fine; if the 10700K is cheaper, it's better value.
No cooler is included. Rocket Lake runs hot. A quality 240mm AIO or large tower cooler is strongly recommended for stable sustained operation.
Yes, with a BIOS update. Intel 500-series boards (Z590, B560) support it natively. Intel 400-series boards (Z490, B460) typically require a BIOS update for 11th gen compatibility.
