Sony guide
How to choose sony
Sony makes the WH-1000XM5 flagship, the more affordable WH-CH720N, and the gaming-oriented INZONE H9. The WH-1000XM5 leads the Versus score for over-ear noise cancellation in 2026.
Noise cancellation
The Sony WH-1000XM5 cancels up to 30 decibels of low-frequency noise. Sony's QN1 processor combined with eight microphones drives the cancellation algorithm. Adaptive sound control adjusts ANC strength based on detected location.
Codecs
Sony LDAC transmits up to 990 kbps over Bluetooth. The WH-1000XM5 supports LDAC, AAC, and SBC. LDAC requires a compatible source device. Most Android phones support LDAC. iPhone does not.
