Build compatibility
What your PC needs
Power supply
550W is the typical recommendation. Most quality 550W or higher PSUs will run this card without issue, including older units that lack 12VHPWR support.
Case clearance
Compact dual-fan EVGA XC design fits in mid-tower, mATX, and most ITX cases. No special clearance requirements.
Motherboard slot
Standard PCIe 4.0 x16 slot. Works on older PCIe 3.0 and newer PCIe 5.0 boards with no noticeable performance difference at this card's bandwidth.
!
EVGA no longer in business
EVGA exited the GPU market in 2022. Any warranty support is being wound down. Treat the card as essentially out-of-warranty when budgeting.
!
Check used condition
Used cards may have worn fans or dried thermal pads from years of use. Inspect before buying, ideally test under load, and budget for a possible repaste.

Who this is right for

Picture yourself in these scenarios. How well does this fit?

Used-only budget builder
Finds a 3060 12GB used at a low price and mainly plays 1080p AAA or older 1440p games. The 12GB VRAM gives real headroom over newer 8GB cards at similar used prices.
Excellent fit
Esports-focused 1080p gamer
Plays mostly CS2, Valorant, Rocket League, or similar at 1080p high refresh. The 3060 handles these at very high frame rates with plenty of headroom.
Good fit
VRAM-conscious budget gamer
Wants 12GB+ of VRAM for newer texture-heavy games at 1080p without paying for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. The 3060 12GB delivers this at much lower used prices.
Good fit
Modern AAA enthusiast
Wants to play the latest games at decent settings with ray tracing. The 3060 is mid-tier Ampere with weaker RT than current cards, will need heavy DLSS to stay smooth.

What every spec actually means

Numbers translated into real-world impact

vram_gb12

Generous memory pool for the tier, beating most newer 8GB entry-mid cards including the RTX 4060 and RX 7600. The genuine selling point of this card in newer texture-heavy games.

memory_typeGDDR6

Standard modern memory technology, the same as used in many current entry-level cards. Combined with the wide 192-bit bus, delivers solid bandwidth for 1080p and entry 1440p gaming.

chipRTX 3060

Nvidia's Ampere mid-range chip from 2021, originally a sweet-spot 1080p ultra card. Still capable today thanks to the unusually generous VRAM allocation, performance is now entry-mid tier.

brandEVGA

EVGA exited the GPU market in 2022, so no new warranty support is available. Build quality of existing cards remains solid, but treat any purchase as essentially out-of-warranty.

Common questions

The things people ask before buying this product

Is the RTX 3060 12GB still worth buying in 2026?

Only at a low used price (well under £180). The 12GB VRAM gives it real headroom over newer 8GB cards, but the missing DLSS 3/4 Frame Generation and ageing performance make it a strict budget pick.

Is EVGA's warranty still valid?

EVGA exited the GPU market in 2022, so no new warranty registrations are accepted. Existing warranties may be honoured under wind-down, but treat any purchase as essentially out-of-warranty for safety.

How does the RTX 3060 12GB compare to the RTX 4060?

The 4060 is faster overall and supports DLSS 3 Frame Generation, but has only 8GB VRAM. The 3060 12GB offers more memory headroom for the same money used. Pick based on whether VRAM or features matter more.

Does the RTX 3060 support DLSS?

Yes, DLSS 2 upscaling. Works in many current games and substantially improves frame rates. No DLSS 3 Frame Generation though, which requires RTX 40 or newer cards exclusively.
